Police seek dog owner after person bit at Kettle Creek Conservation

Provincial police in Elgin County would like to speak with the owner of a dog that reportedly bit someone several times at Kettle Creek Conservation Area Monday afternoon.

The incident happened at around 1 p.m., Elgin OPP said. A 62-year-old was in the picnic area of the conservation authority located at Ferguson Line in Central Elgin when a dog wearing a leash was running at large when it bit the individual several times, injuring the person.

Shortly after the attack, the person believed to be the owner arrived to get the animal under control. The suspected owner, described as a White male, between 50-60 years old, around six feet tall, with silver hair, then left in a passenger vehicle with the dog without offering any other information or assistance to the victim.

The dog is said to be a black Rottweiler, around 75 lbs, possibly named "Owen." Police say the vehicle the man got into with the animal is an older model Chevrolet Blazer with a red bottom panel and white top with a licence plate possibly ending in "77."

The victim went to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Police would like to talk to the owner(s) of the dog described in the incident.

Anyone who has information about the incident or the identity of the owner(s) involved, is asked to call OPP at 1-888-310-1122, or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
