Third teen charged with manslaughter in death of 16-year-old

A third teenager has been charged in the death of a 16-year-old Londoner.

London police announced a 16-year-old, who cannot be named because of his age, was arrested Monday night and has been charged with one count of manslaughter in the death of Malik McDonnell-Mills.

Treyton Hoffman, 18, and another 16-year-old were previously arrested and charged with manslaughter in the case.

According to police, the third suspect was identified through the course of the investigation by the major crime section. He is scheduled to appear in London court in relation to the charge on Tuesday.

McDonnell-Mills was fatally injured in London's Glen Cairn neighbourhood last Wednesday. Police determined there had been an "altercation" between a group of male youths that left McDonnell-Mills with life-threatening injuries. The Montcalm secondary school student was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

An arrest warrant was issued for Hoffman and the one 16-year-old suspect two days later. Both were arrested and appeared in court on Monday.

The investigation is ongoing.

Police continue to ask anyone with information to call them at 519-661-5670 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).

McDonnell-Mills death is the city's fifth homicide of the year.
