Mount Brydges antique shop permanently closing after fire

A Mount Brydges antique shop ravaged by fire three months ago will not be reopening its doors.

BrickYard Antiques and Restaurant at 8898 Longwoods Road announced the store's permanent closure on its website Monday.

"We have unfortunately come to the difficult decision to permanently close BrickYard Antiques after our devastating fire on June 6 resulting in a complete loss of more than half of our store," the owners of BrickYard Antiques wrote. "After partial demolition what remained was a disastrous smoke-filled mess with its entire contents needing to be cleared out or disposed of."

The owners went on to state they would miss their "fun, zany and supportive customers."

"Thank you for everything. We know BrickYard Antiques was special to all of you and was a unique multi-vendor market because of how much our staff, vendors and customers cared for its success," the owners concluded.

Firefighters from three municipal stations spent over 5 hours battling the blaze the morning of June 6. No one was hurt, but the fire caused approximately $250,000 damage. The Strathroy-Caradoc Fire Department has provided no updates surrounding the cause of the fire.

The antique market was home to more than 90 vendors and was located on one of the area’s last standing brickyards.

The closure notice on the store's Facebook page has been shared nearly 100 times.
