TVDSB employee accused of sexual assault of minor

An employee of the Thames Valley District School Board is facing accusations he sexually assaulted a minor, and police believe there may be more victims.

In a news release issued Friday afternoon, the London Police Service announced charges of sexual assault and sexual interference with a person under 16 years of agao against Cody Steven Kunder, 26, of London.

"Earlier this month, London police were notified of a sexual assault allegation that was reported to have taken place at a school in the north end of the city," police said in the media release. "Officers entered into an investigation and learned that a school-aged girl was touched inappropriately on more than one occasion by a man in a position of authority at the school earlier this year."

According to police, investigators believe there may be more victims and they are asking the public to contact them if they have any information, or if they had "similar dealings with the accused."

Kunder was listed as a teacher on a contact page on the website for Chippewa Public School on Chippewa Drive, in the area of Highbury Avenue and Huron Street. However, he is not listed on the 2023-2024 "our staff" section of the school's webpage.

According to an official with the Thames Valley District School Board, Kunder is still employed by the board.

Police say he has been released from custody and is to appear in court on July 16.
