Grey Bruce Walk For Memories Successful

The final wintertime Walk For Memories was a financial success, especially in Grey-Bruce.

More than 250 walkers and volunteers took part in events in Kincardine, Hanover, Thornbury and Owen Sound on Saturday January 31. They raised a total of just over $60,000.

All the money stays in Grey-Bruce to help fund information, education, support and counselling services for persons with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia, as well as their families and caregivers.

In the spring of 2016, Alzheimer societies across Canada will join forces for the new national Walk for Alzheimer’s. But all money collected locally will stay local.

“We are grateful to everyone who participated in, who donated to, and who volunteered at the Walk for Memories on January 31,” said Executive Director Deborah Barker. “It makes an important contribution to the growing need for the services we provide.”
