High levels of air pollution are possible this afternoon.

An AIR QUALITY WARNING is in place due to the possibility of deteriorating air quality. Hot and sunny conditions are expected to cause increasing ground-level ozone concentrations this afternoon. Moderate risk AQHI values are expected throughout the day with the potential of short-term high risk AQHI values in the afternoon.

When air pollution levels are high, everyone should limit time outdoors. Consider reducing or rescheduling outdoor sports, activities and events.

You may experience mild and common symptoms such as eye, nose and throat irritation, headaches or a mild cough. More serious but less common symptoms include wheezing, chest pains or severe cough. If you think you are having a medical emergency, seek immediate medical assistance.

People more likely to be impacted by outdoor air pollution, including people aged 65 and older, pregnant people, infants and young children, people with an existing illness or chronic health condition, and people who work outdoors, should reduce or reschedule strenuous activities outdoors and seek medical attention if experiencing symptoms.

<div>A warm front will bring temperatures up to 11 degrees today, with rain expected to start early this evening.</div>

<div>How much levels rise depends on the amount of rainfall.   The Conservation Authority will monitor conditions closely.</div>

<div>Water levels will remain high into Wednesday.  There is the risk of ice jams in Grand Valley and West Montrose.</div>

<div>The major reservoirs are at low winter holding levels, with maximum storage room available to manage runoff.</div>

<div>Residents need to be extremely cautious around watercourses, with unstable ice, and snow cover hiding streams and ditches.</div>
