Three students from the School of Medicine and Dentistry in London started work this week at the South Bruce Grey Health Centre.
Their six-week placement is part of the MedLINCS program.
Medical Learning in Community Settings provides first and second year medicine students with a diverse clinical and teaching opportunity in rural and regional southwestern Ontario.
These medical students will be instructors and mentors to 30 Bruce and Grey high school students during a week-long program next month to explore health careers.
“We are excited to have a participant from the 2008 program return as one of the medical students in 2015,” says Myrna Inglis, chair of the MedLINCS Committee. “At least ten former participants in the program have chosen health careers and are employed in this area.”
This is the tenth year of the MedLINCS program.
“We are very pleased to participate in the MedLINCS program again this year,” says Paul Rosebush, SBGHC president and CEO. “South Bruce Grey Health Centre is a great place for students to experience the unique nature of practicing in a rural health care environment.”
