There's a new Warden in the County of Huron for 2017-18.
Central Huron Mayor, Jim Ginn, takes over the reigns from immediate past Warden and Morris-Turnberry Mayor, Paul Gowing.
Ginn was acclaimed to the position Wednesday in the Huron County Council Chambers in Goderich.
Ginn says he's honoured to be following in the steps of his colleague Paul Gowing.
"I think everyone recognized him today here, that he's done a great job, I think he's really brought the Council together, we keep hearing more and more all the time about how respectful the discussion is at County Council, we do get a lot of work done and I think he's done a great job," says Ginn.
The new Warden for Huron County also has some clear goals for the region including moving forward with broadband connectivity in rural parts of the county, lake bank and shoreline stability and of course, the upcoming 2017 International Plowing Match being held near Walton.
Immediate past Warden, Paul Gowing, has no doubts that Jim Ginn will carry out the task at hand and carry them out well.
"It's a great honour to see him placed in the role of Warden and I will certainly serve under Jim and help him out in any way that I can," says Gowing.
Ginn also notes that his background in farming will certainly help him in his new role, an attribute he feels is very important to have as Warden of one of the biggest Agricultural and Farming Counties in Ontario.
