Perth Huron United Way Celebrates After Raising $1.2M

About 250 people gathered together to mark another successful fundraising campaign at the United Way Perth Huron Spirit of Community Celebration.

Guests celebrated the $1.2-million raised for 47 organizations that deliver human service programs.

Executive Director Ryan Erb called it the most successful year in the history of the United Way Perth Huron.

He says they also helped the local Community Food Centre graduate to a stand alone charity, launched the i-volunteer virtual volunteer system, and opened crossing bridges for at risk youth in Listowel.

The evening at the Best Western Arden Park Hotel last week included dinner provided by the Hayter family, awards, and success stories.

Exeter mother of six Amber Williams spoke about the positive impact the Huron County Recreational, Art and Sports Program had on her children, by helping with registration, equipment or transportation costs.

Andrew Williams, Campaign Chair shared, “The support we have received right across Huron and Perth throughout the campaign has been heartwarming,” says Williams. “People get it... they understand that we are all stronger when we step up… when we all commit to be part of the solution, the quality of life for everyone improves."

Local organisations honoured included top workplace donor Scotiabank followed by the LCBO and Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance. Top workplace participation went to EFS Plastics Inc., top sponsor to Ideal Supply and corporate spirit to Bemac Construction.
