OPP Urge Motorists To Prepare For Winter Driving

OPP across Midwestern Ontario are reminding motorists to take extra care on the roads as winter weather quickly moves into the region.

Environment Canada has issued a snow squall watch for Midwestern Ontario including Huron, Bruce, Grey, Perth, and Northern Wellington Counties, with squalls predicted to develop this evening and into tomorrow to the lee of Lake Huron and Georgian Bay.

As showers change to snow when the cold front arrives, the roads could become icy and slippery. Up to 10 cm is possible, with squalls and blowing snow reducing visibility.

OPP urge motorists to ensure their vehicles are ready and have snow tires on.

Clear your windows, Give yourself plenty of time to travel, keep a full tank of gas, and check weather conditions before you venture out.

Create a survival kit to bring with you, and keep a safe distance behind snowploughs. Slow down and make safety your priority.
