Winter Is Coming

Winter is about to make its season debut in midwestern Ontario, with Environment Canada issuing a Snow Squall Watch for the region.

Snow squalls are expected to develop Thursday evening into Friday, with up to 15 cm accumulations possible in some areas.

Bands of snow could reduce visibility due to a gusty wind.

Streamers are expected to develop southeast of Lake Huron and Georgian Bay and persist into Friday.

The cold front will move in rapidly Thursday changing from rain to flurries, and leading to icy surfaces.

The Ausable Bayfield Conservation Authority has issued a statement that strong winds, and higher than average water levels could result in strong waves on the Lake Huron shoreline.

There is the chance of minor flooding in low lying coastal area, and increased erosion to lakeshore bluffs.
