The charge has been dropped against one of the people involved in a stand off at the Durham area dairy farm of Michael Schmidt. George Bothwell was facing a charge of Obstructing a Peace Officer related to a raid by authorities at Schmidt's farm in October 2015. They were gathering evidence of Schmidt's raw milk products operation. Schmidt is serving a 60 day sentence after being convicted of the same charge. Crown Attorney Melody Martin declined to comment on the reasons for dropping the charge against Bothwell. She advised reporters they could find out the reasons by applying for a transcript of the court proceedings last Friday when the charges were dropped.
