The Bruce Power refurbishment project has brought another supplier to the area.
Toronto-based Kinectrics has opened the 37,000 sq ft facility it purchased this past summer in the Bruce Energy Centre, near the Bruce Power site in Tiverton.
President and CEO David Harris says it's all part of a $15-million investment in Bruce County, with construction of a facility in Teeswater set to begin this spring, which will initially act as a warehouse.
He says they will now look to hire about 50 people to work locally.
"We see the investment in new equipment, new facilities, but most importantly, jobs into the area," says Harris. "This will create 30-50 long-term, well paying, highly-skilled jobs."
Bruce County Warden Mitch Twolan says this is one of the biggest local investments to date by a Bruce Power supplier relocating to the area, adding it's an exciting time for the county as the expected boom of the Bruce Power refurbishment is starting to be felt.
Twolan says Bruce County's partnership with Bruce Power to bring suppliers to the area has already paid off, adding there's still expected to be more companies coming to the area before the refurbishment gets underway in 2020.
