OLG officials visit Clinton

Officials with the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation paid a visit to Clinton last week.

OLG sends a cheque to the municipality of Central Huron every quarter,  and Senior Manager Tyjondah Kerr explains part of that money goes to seniors so they were in town for the launch of the second season of Thursday's Tunes.    It's a program that features several senior musicians getting together at the Libro Community Centre and playing for other seniors who like to dance.

Kerr says since the casino in Clinton opened - until March of this year, OLG has sent 10.5 million dollars to Central Huron.     She says how the money is spent is determined by the mayor and council and some of it goes to infrastructure like roads and bridges, but some is earmarked for recreation programs and programs for seniors, like Thursday's Tunes.

“We are celebrating the launch of Thursday Tunes with the seniors to show that we are celebrating this event by announcing to the community that goes from the gaming facility into your community and one of the areas is our seniors.”
