It's down to business for South Bruce Peninsula councillors as they get set to tackle a 2019 budget.
Council received preliminary budget documents this week, which includes a proposed tax levy increase of 7.8 per cent, or an additional $772,000 in spending.
Staff were asked to roll back the increase in line with the rate of inflation (between two per cent an three per cent) when formal budget talks get underway next week.
Mayor Janice Jackson said she would not support a budget with a tax levy increase above four per cent.
"We're basically going to kind of go back to square one and deal with a budget and just go piece-by-piece and start with the cost-of-living increase and see what council wants to approve beyond that," said Jackson.
South Bruce Peninsula council has set aside three days for budget deliberations, beginning on Monday.
