Branding challenges for the Municipality of Bluewater

The Community Development Coordinator for the Municipality of Bluewater is working on a re-branding project.

Karen Rickers says one of the challenges is finding the balance between being a forward-thinking community, and one that values its heritage.

She points out they have the Ontario Heritage Conference coming to Bluewater next year and they recently conducted heritage tours of the three villages and two townships, so heritage is a very important part of what Bluewater is.

Rickers also wants to celebrate the distinct features of each community, while recognizing them as part of the greater community of Bluewater.

Rickers adds the people define the municipality and it wouldn't be what it is without volunteers.

"This municipality is made so much richer by the volunteers and everything that they do.   So we want to communicate that to each other and to the external world because, of course, we want to attract more residents, we want to attract more visitors, we want to attract more businesses."
