The Township of Perth East has approved 2019 Capital and Operating Budget.
After including new construction assessment, the township levy increased by 2.72%
Highlights include new video recording equipment for online viewing of council meetings, the installation of solar for net metering at some municipal facilities, and a partnership with other municipalities for a climate change coordinator.
The township plans to create electronic billing to email township invoices, and replace fire department tankers at the Milverton and Sebringville stations.
Federal Gas Tax funds will be used for surface treatment on Road 111 and Road 103. A Joint road reconstruction project with North Perth on Road 140 will also go ahead.
“Perth East Council are pleased with the 2019 Budget, as it meets the goals of Perth East residents,” said Mayor Rhonda Ehgoetz. “We have also invested in our local organizations run by volunteers and are able to maintain all of our services."
The 2019 Perth East Budget process began in May 2018 with a visioning session for members of Council. Perth East ratepayers were also given the opportunity to provide council and staff with feedback on the 2019 Budget in an online survey on “Your Say Perth East” in fall of 2018.
