Canadian Army Reserves conduct exercise in Hanover

Canadian Armed Forces personnel will start rolling into Hanover this week.

About 120 soldiers are being deployed to Hanover Wednesday evening and Thursday morning, and will operate from the P-and-H Centre as a Domestic Response Company.

It's part of "Exercise Arrowhead Response", which involves a total of 600 Canadian Army soldiers based in London. Domestic Response Companies are also being deployed to Woodstock and Chatham.

The exercise is to practise the planning and execution of domestic support operations, which take place during a crisis like a natural disaster or industrial accident. Training tasks include the set-up of reception centres, the establishment of command posts, and conducting patrols in the community by vehicle and foot.

Hanover residents will see soldiers and military vehicles in town and surrounding areas for the next four days. There will be opportunities for the public to interact with Army personnel and they are encouraged to visit the various locations and talk to the soldiers.
