Next year will mark the 50th anniversary of the Kincardine Municipal Airport, and the local airport service provider currently under contract with the municipality has proposed a special event to mark the occasion.
Adam Weishar, Kincardine's director of public works, says on June 20 of next year, there will be some great things for people to come interact with.
"They would like to bring in a number of aircraft, so vintage static displays, and unique aircraft, about 10-12 planes that would be on the ground for people to stop by and come in and take a tour to look at," he said.
Weishar said there would also be volunteers, and possibly local vendors and food trucks as part of the event which would run from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Kincardine council approved $8,000 in funding to help with the event. Weishar also adds the aircraft on display won't be airborne.
"In terms of what will be going on with the event, the planes will be on the ground, so we will be attracting people to the site to walk around and to visit and view the aircraft that will be there," he said.
