A Chesley area family is demanding two West Grey Police officers be charged after an altercation at their residence in the early morning hours of June 6th, 2020.
The Hillier family allege police brutality.
David Hillier, 68, is still in hospital in London with what the family's lawyer says are broken ribs, a punctured lung, broken nose and numerous bruises. His son, Casey Hiller, was treated for cuts and bruises.
Casey's wife Cheryl says police were called that night to help with a domestic dispute not involving her husband or father-in-law.
She says an argument ensued when two police officers arrived and David and Casey were injured. Cheryl says they were tased and beaten.
"It was very violent. I was standing on my deck and I could hear them being tased and I could also hear them being beat with a baton and I saw my father-in-law laying lifelessly on the ground," said Cheryl Hillier.
Last evening about 40 people demonstrated in support of the Hillier family in front of the West Grey Police Station in Durham. The family has launched legal action against the West Grey Police Board and two officers.
"We just want justice," said Hillier. "And I think it's very unfair and I don't think that the police should have used such excessive force."
West Grey Police are not commenting as the incident is now in the hands of the province's Special Investigations Unit and none of the allegations have been proven in court.
