The artistic director for the Blyth Festival says there are no easy answers for theatre right now.
Gil Garratt said they're trying to find a way to get shows on a stage next summer but theatre groups all over the world are dealing with the same uncertainly with the pandemic and there are no easy answers.
"How do you put physical distancing in place when you're talking about live performance and an audience. For us it meant things like Memorial Hall, we really at this point can't see how we could even accommodate the 50 person cap," said Garratt. "If there's singing in a show, they want to have plexiglass between the audience and the performer. Lots of great shows at Blyth Festival have had incredible music and singing in them and so having to think about how we would ever accommodate those."
Garratt said they're going to have to come up with something quite different from their traditional plays next year but at this point, they don't know exactly what that will look like.
