OPP Canine tracks suspect tracked to garden shed

Huron OPP need the help of the OPP Canine - "Valor" and his handler from the West Region Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Canine Unit last weekend in Wingham.

On October 23, 2020 at approximately 2:12 a.m. a Huron OPP officer initiated a traffic stop of a sport utility vehicle at the edge of Wingham on Kerr Drive. Police allege the driver failed to pull over and immediately took off from the officer. He led the officer on a short chase before he drove his vehicle down a dead-end road and skidded into a guard rail. Upon doing so the driver exited his vehicle and immediately fled on foot.

Officers set up containment and with the help of "Valor", a 7-year-old German Shepherd, officers tracked the fleeing suspect to a garden shed on Josephine Street. Also during the track "Valor" sniffed out a package of suspected methamphetamine that the suspect had discarded.

Brandon DYCK, 28, from Goderich is facing the following charges:

Flight from Peace Officer Dangerous Operation Operation While Prohibited - 5 counts Failure to Comply with Release Order Possession of a Schedule I Substance - Methamphetamine Driving While Under Suspension - 2 counts Operate a Motor Vehicle Without Insurance Operate Unsafe Vehicle Use Plate Not Authorized for Vehicle

The suspect remains in custody with a court appearance scheduled for October 28, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice - Goderich.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
