Brockton has announced a replacement for its longtime chief building official who recently announced his retirement.
After a lengthy career of service, Ray Holliday has announced he will retire at the end of the year on December 31, 2020.
Brockton then announced in a release on October 28 that after an extensive search, Dieter Weltz will replace Holliday as of January 1, 2021.
As the new chief building official and building and planning manager, Weltz will be promoting public safety and ensuring compliance by enforcing the Ontario Building Code. He will also be ensuring property standards and zoning bylaws, while also making sure buildings respect and adhere to public health, fire protection and structural integrity.
Weltz comes to Brockton after serving as the chief building official with South Bruce for four years. He has over 14 years of experience in the building industry, including being a certified building code official through the Ontario Building Officials Association and having red seal carpenter designation.
Mayor Chris Peabody welcomed Dieter to the Brockton team.

The community is experiencing a significant period of growth and Dieter will be an essential part of supporting that growth and leading the Building Department to support this sector.”
Dieter also spoke on the opportunity to work within Brockton.

My qualifications through the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing coupled with my local knowledge and work experience related to building and planning matters will be an asset to support the community of Brockton.”
