Public health officials update COVID-19 situation in Midwestern Ontario

Huron Perth Public Health reported 42 active cases of COVID-19 Thursday and 47 fatalities, with another death added Thursday. Huron Perth Public Health added eight new cases and reported one hospitalization Thursday. The new cases are in South Huron, Huron East, North Perth, St. Marys, Bluewater, and three in Stratford.

Huron Perth Public Health declared an outbreak at Relouw Early Childhood Learning Centre in Exeter. Huron Perth Public Health says there are ongoing outbreaks at three long term care homes, two retirement homes and St. Marys hospital.

Huron Perth Public Health says it is on track to complete second dose vaccine administration to residents at all of the area's long term care and high risk retirement homes by February 18th. Staff, and essential care givers will be the next priority.

The Grey Bruce Health Unit has reported four new cases of COVID-19, in South Bruce, Southgate and two in West Grey.  The Grey Bruce Health Unit reported 18 active cases, four active probable cases, and one hospitalization. The Health Unit reports no outbreaks.

Public health officials in Wellington County reported four new cases Thursday, 25 active cases and one person in hospital. Wellington Dufferin Guelph Public Health reported 90 fatalities due to COVID-19 over the course of the pandemic. 26 of those deaths were in Wellington. Health officials reported outbreaks continue at two long term care homes and Palmerston Hospital.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
