The average household in Saugeen Shores will see an $80.41 per year increase in its taxes.
The Committee of the Whole approved a blended tax increase of 2% between the municipality, Bruce County and school boards.
Officials say the budget will maintain service levels, while continuing to build capacity for future infrastructure through increased contributions to the Legacy Reserve Fund.
The final budget approval is expected at the next Saugeen Shores Council meeting on March 8.
“In this budget, Council has committed to increase funding to complete major projects that will enhance the quality of life of everyone in our community,” said Mayor Luke Charbonneau. “I am also pleased that the budget includes a 3.18% reduction to the commercial blended tax rate. Through this reduction we are able to provide some additional relief to local businesses that are facing challenges due to the pandemic.”
