Local fire departments in Huron and Bruce counties will be receiving funding from the province to help with COVID-19 impacts.
In a release on April 14th, Huron-Bruce BPP Lisa Thompson says that her riding will be receiving $83,500 to be split between 13 local fire stations.
The release states that the funding "will enhance fire safety training and support safety inspection programs to ensure compliance with the Ontario Fire Code."
The funding is from a $5 million provincial investment to help fire departments deal with impacts created by COVID-19 which "created risks and unprecedented challenges for fire departments to conduct training and fire safety inspections."
The funding will also help with in-person and online education by increasing training access. It will also help improve special equipment like high-speed internet to "enhance virtual training and enable remote options to support fire safety and compliance with Ontario's Fire Code while minimizing exposure to the virus."
