The Town of South Bruce Peninsula has purchased the Medical Centre building in Sauble Beach. The property at 672 Main Street was donated to the community by the Bannister family in 2007 for use as a medical clinic, but it was recently listed on the open market.
The town acquired it to help secure long-term medical services for Sauble Beach. A media release from the municipality says the Town will work closely with Bruce County EMS, with the intent to build an ambulance bay at the facility to further enhance public safety in the Sauble Beach area.
The Town will purchase the Medical Centre Building through long-term debt financing and use revenues obtained from leaseholders to offset the financing costs.
“Access to healthcare in a rural community can be challenging, we are so fortunate to have a medical centre that can serve our residents while covering the debenture costs through lease payments” said Mayor Janice Jackson.
