Huron County has announced its Children's Services Division, along with partner agencies, will provide free Emergency Licensed Child Care for school-aged children of health care and other eligible frontline workers starting Monday.
Children's Services Supervisor, Diane Millian, says the program will be offered to parents who are required to be on their job site and have school-aged children who require care.
"We're looking at targeting those in the healthcare profession or congregated care settings, such as nursing homes or community living, first responders and law enforcement, mass food production and distribution employees and those that are supplying medical supplies and services to the community," said Millian.
Millian adds they currently have 72 spots and they're very limited and filling up extremely quickly.
Emergency Child Care will start on January 10th and it does offer space for children to engage in online learning but also other play-based and recreational-based activities for the children.
She also notes, it's scheduled to last until January 17th, at which time students are scheduled to return to the classroom.
