Chapman's pledges thousands to Habitat for Humanity initiative

Chapman's Ice Cream is pledging $50,000 to Habitat for Humanity Canada's "Meaning of Home" contest, a national writing competition open to students in grades four, five and six.

In a release, Vice President Ashley Chapman says, "The past two years have shown Canadian families the importance of home like never before, and to be able to shelter at home and feel like you can do something to keep your family safe during the pandemic is a luxury many people in this country do not have."

"Our contribution to Habitat for Humanity Canada will open this possibility to many more Canadians who dream of 'home' in a way many of us take for granted," Chapman continued.

The contest raises money for Habitat for Humanity Canada and local Habitat organizations across the country.

Each student entering the contest will earn a $10 donation towards their local Habitat for Humanity, while three grand prize winners will receive a $30,000 grant towards their local Habitat build. In addition, each winner and runner-up will win an iPad or tablet, as well as a pizza party for their class.

12,000 students from across Canada participated in 2021, raising $300,000 for local Habitat for Humanity organizations.
