United Way Perth Huron hosted a very successful Coldest Night of the Year campaign in Wingham this year.
In a release, United Way says that walkers for the event, as well as numerous donors, raised $40,536 to support people experiencing homelessness locally.
117 walkers including 28 teams took part in the inaugural Wingham Coldest Night of the Year, exceeding the original goal of $35,500.
Funds raised will go toward the planned new Northern Huron Connection Centre. The centre will offer "basic needs such as light meals, a shower, washroom facilities and laundry along with additional support through partnerships with numerous agencies."

Donations are accepted at cnoy.org/location/Wingham until March 31st.
