Huron celebrates early childhood educators

The County of Huron is marking Child Care Worker and Early Childhood Educator Appreciation Day by thanking Huron’s many Child Care Providers for the services they provide to families.

Each year, the day is proclaimed by The Ontario Coalition for Better Child Care (OCBCC), the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE), municipalities, and school boards across Ontario to recognize the commitment, hard work, and dedication of Early Childhood Educators (ECEs) and staff who work with young children.

“I extend my heartfelt thanks to Huron’s Child Care Providers,” said Warden Glen McNeil. “Programs like these provide an essential service in our community, one that is critical for our whole community’s economy, health, and vitality.”

Huron's Children’s Services Division of the County’s Social and Property Services Department operates 11 centre-based Child Care locations, 13 Licensed Home Child Care settings, and four Child and Family Centre locations in Huron County. Together, these 250 Childhood Educators and support staff provide care for approximately 1,500 families in Huron.

Huron County Children’s Services will host a development day on October 21, 2022 for all of the County’s ECEs to attend, with a focus on outdoor education for young children.

“We wish to extend our deepest appreciation to those in this very important sector and hope all will take a moment to thank the ECEs they know,” said Cheryl Patience, Manager of Ontario Works and Children’s Services.
