New North Huron Mayor Paul Heffer says he is ready to get to work.
After being elected on Monday night, Heffer says he expects a good working relationship with council.
"I can get along with people, and I have a good rapport with them. I also need to be committed to having the new council working with me," he said.
Heffer told CKNXNewsToday.ca he wanted to ensure the municipality focuses on asset management.
"We have a small population so we have to spend accordingly. And I feel by doing that, we will provide adequate services for our community," he added.
He also wanted to foster stronger relationships with municipal neighbors.
"Because we're a small municipality, we have to work together to make some of these goals on the project feasible for us," he explained.
Heffer was elected as a first-term Councillor for the Wingham Ward during the 2018 municipal election.
Heffer defeated incumbent Bernie Bailie, councillor Trevor Seip, and newcomer Ranko Markeljevic in Monday's municipal election.
