Local Members of Parliament are keeping a close eye on developments surrounding an object that was shot down over the weekend above Lake Huron.
In a joint statement, Members of Parliament including Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound MP Alex Ruff and Huron-Bruce MP Ben Lobb say parliamentarians have received a briefing from the government, and work continues to recover and investigate the origin of the objects.
Updates to the public will be provided as more information becomes available.
Perth-Wellington MP John Nater's riding isn't along the Lake Huron shoreline, but he says he is tracking the updates.
"These objects, apparently coming from foreign countries, obviously there's a concern of intelligence gathering by these entities, and the fact that there's been so many over the past seven days or so, particularly concerning is the one that was over Lake Huron. I'm glad that it's been dealt with" said Nater, who noted there are briefings happening on Parliament Hill that are ongoing.
"We'll be looking for more information in the next couple of days once the wreckage is recovered" he added.
According to Fox News, the first missile launched by an F-16 fighter jet at the object near Lake Huron Sunday did not hit the target.
