Stonetown Heritage Festival 2023 offering new activities, entertainment

The Stonetown Heritage Festival in St. Marys is quickly approaching.

This year, there is an abundance of activities, many of which are brand new.

"The festival is just over a month away, on July 14 to 16," said Alanna Bowes, events coordinator for the Town of St. Marys. "Saturday's (July 15) programming will definitely be a highlight!"

Some of the performances attendees can look forward to include a hula hoop and fire artist, a basketball net stilt walker, and various local musicians.

There will also be a skateboard demonstration, thanks to Square One Square Shop and the Rotary All Wheels Park.

For the kids, there will be a kids' zone, full of inflatables, face painting, and activities from the Town of St. Marys EarlyON Centre, the St. Marys Museum, the St. Marys Public Library, and the Museum of Ontario Archaeology.

At 10 a.m., kids can also make their way to the Lion's Pavilion in Milt Dunnell Field for a workshop exploring river life. That will be led by the Upper Thames River Conservation Authority. In the same area, the St. Marys Farmers' Market will be set up from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.

A concert will take place as the sun sets, featuring York Street Though Process, The Bone Radlers, and Roy's Garage.

Once the night falls, a concert will be held and fireworks will light up the skies. They will be set off from the Grand Trunk trestle. Donation buckets will be brought around to help offset the cost.

The full schedule can be viewed here.
