Owen Sound care home takes corrective measures following cease admissions order from ministry

A long-term care facility in Owen Sound has taken steps to address the issues that led to a cease admissions order this summer.

Inspectors discovered various infractions during inspections conducted at Southbridge Owen Sound in late July and August. These findings prompted the Ministry of Long-Term Care to issue the cease admissions order.

The reported infractions included a resident leaving the facility without supervision or power of attorney present, an incident involving an injured resident who had wandered off, complaints of residents experiencing extended delays in having their personal needs attended to, improper incontinence care, and other related issues.

Despite being in operation for only nine months, Southbridge Owen Sound has expanded to meet the growing community demand, increasing its capacity from caring for 50 residents to accommodating 160.

CKNXNewsToday.ca is awaiting a response from Southbridge Owen Sound regarding a request for comment or interview.
