Cranbrook Community Centre secures sizable grant

Cranbrook Community Centre Committee has received a $27,000 grant for its revival project.

The grant was distributed by the Commonwell Mutual Insurance Group’s Learning Engagement and Accelerator Fund (L.E.A.F.)

The committee says the grant will enable them to make the necessary accessibility upgrades, preparing the historic community meeting place for many more years of community learning and engagement.

“You can feel the history as you walk into the Cranbrook Community Centre,” says Rhonda Fischer, Committee Member. “Thanks to The Commonwell’s L.E.A.F. Grant, we can ensure that our growing community has access to a well maintained and established community space.”

The L.E.A.F. program invested $350,000 in grants this year, scaling from previous years.

"We received over $2.7 million in funding requests this year, highlighting its crucial role in supporting communities." said Tim Shauf, President of The Commonwell. "We believe in fostering strength and resilience within the communities we serve, and this year's projects are positioned to make a lasting positive impact."
