Lake effect snow could drop 10cm on Grey, Bruce counties

Winter has returned to parts of midwestern Ontario.

A low pressure system brought a messy mix of wet snow and rain to the region Sunday night into Monday morning. By the afternoon on Monday, lake effect flurries off of Lake Huron are expected to begin falling. Those flurries will continue through Tuesday and possibly Wednesday, dumping roughly 10 centimetres of snow on Grey and Bruce counties.

Environment Canada has those two counties under a winter weather travel advisory, as the heavy flurries could reduce visibility and make roads hard to navigate at times.

Drivers are being told to expect hazardous winter driving conditions and to adjust travel plans accordingly.

The national weather agency reminds if visibility is reduced while driving, to slow down, watch for tail lights ahead, and be prepared to stop.

In Huron County, flurries Monday afternoon into Tuesday are only expected to drop about 2 centimetres of snow.
