High levels of air pollution are possible this afternoon.

An AIR QUALITY WARNING is in place due to the possibility of deteriorating air quality. Hot and sunny conditions are expected to cause increasing ground-level ozone concentrations this afternoon. Moderate risk AQHI values are expected throughout the day with the potential of short-term high risk AQHI values in the afternoon.

When air pollution levels are high, everyone should limit time outdoors. Consider reducing or rescheduling outdoor sports, activities and events.

You may experience mild and common symptoms such as eye, nose and throat irritation, headaches or a mild cough. More serious but less common symptoms include wheezing, chest pains or severe cough. If you think you are having a medical emergency, seek immediate medical assistance.

People more likely to be impacted by outdoor air pollution, including people aged 65 and older, pregnant people, infants and young children, people with an existing illness or chronic health condition, and people who work outdoors, should reduce or reschedule strenuous activities outdoors and seek medical attention if experiencing symptoms.

Bruce County will host another household hazardous waste drop-off on Saturday, June 14.The latest drop-off will be at the Bruce County Transportation Yard at 242 Canrobert Street in Paisley from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.Household hazardous waste materials include paints and stains, propane tanks, used oil, aerosols, batteries, antifreeze, oil filters, solvents, household cleaners, fluorescent lights, fertilizers, fuel, pharmaceuticals, fire extinguishers, pesticides, and pool chemicals.Commercial waste, agricultural waste, industrial waste, PCB’s, ammunitions and flares are not accepted. A full list of accepted and prohibited items, as well as rules around containers to drop materials off in is available here: <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="http://www.brucecounty.on.ca/hazardouswaste">www.brucecounty.on.ca/hazardouswaste</a>
