Burn ban across Huron County lifted

The open air fire ban in Huron County has been lifted thanks to this week's rainfall in the region.

Huron County Fire Chiefs announced that the ban first implemented on August 6 due to dry conditions, would be lifted at 12:01 a.m. Wednesday.

Chiefs say thanks to improved conditions across the county, outdoor burning can now safely resume in accordance with municipal by-laws and any required permits. They thank residents for their patience and cooperation while the ban was in place.

Residents are reminded to use caution and to follow safe practices when burning:

- Never leave a fire unattended.

- Keep adequate water or firefighting equipment on site.

- Ensure that fires are completely extinguished before leaving the area.
