South Huron mourns former councillor

Flags at Town Hall for the Municipality of South Huron have been lowered this week to mark the passing of a former councillor.

Long-time Usborne Township Councillor Brian Hardeman passed away on September 6, 2025.

The late councillor owned Hardeman Feeds in Kirkton, and served Usborne Township Council for almost 20 years.

The Township consisted of lands east of Exeter to nearly Mount Pleasant, south to Whalen Corners and north past Hurondale. It was amalgamated with Exeter and the Township of Stephen in 2001 to form South Huron.

"Brian was a champion volunteer and leader who loved his community," said Mayor George Finch in a statement. "On behalf of the Municipality, I want to express my condolences to his family and friends."

Details on the service can be found in his obituary.
