South Bruce OPP officer given award for saving a life

A South Bruce OPP officer was recently honoured after they helped to save someone's life during an incident in Walkerton in 2024.

On November 5 of 2024, Constable Mike Scott responded to a call regarding an individual who was experiencing a medical crisis on top of a building in Walkerton.

Constable Scott talked with the person and used his communication skills and compassion to de-escalate the situation, and the person in distress was assisted and given the help they needed as a result of Constable Scott's actions.

As a result of these heroic actions, Constable Scott was presented the Commissioner's Citation for Lifesaving by South Bruce OPP Detachment Commander Inspector Keegan Wilcox on April 21, 2026.
