A second suspect in the theft of boxes of potato chips from Hanover's Industrial Park has been arrested.
Hanover police took the 33-year-old local man into custody on Tuesday. He is charged with theft under $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime, and failure to comply with a probation order.
The charges stem from an incident that happened in the town shortly after 4 a.m. on October 20. Officers spotted two men dressed in dark clothing carrying two cardboard boxes near a distribution facility on 14th Avenue.
The men reportedly took off running when approached by police. That sparked a search of the area.
Roughly an hour later, using the Hanover Fire Department's thermal imaging drone, a suspect was found hiding under overgrown grass in a green space. Boxes of potato chips, edged weapons, and a set of bolt cutters were seized.
A 37-year-old Brockton man was arrested and charged with theft under $5,000, mischief under $5,000, possession of break-in instruments, and possession of property obtained by crime.
Investigators determined the chips had been stolen from several delivery trucks that were broken into before police arrived.
