Cyclone Report: First Win of 2015

It's a first win in the new year for the Listowel Cyclones and comes against second placed Kitchener Sunday night with a 4-2 comeback victory.

The meeting was the second of a home and home with the Dutchman, who took the first one Friday 4-1 at Memorial Arena.

For the Cyclones it's been about playing an aggressive defensive style. Coach Jason Brooks has had his group playing that system all season and now it's about keeping that going.

"We got 16 games left on the calender." Brooks said "It's about keeping this going and continuing to get better."

Listowel has a young team, they have struggled offensively in some games but the compete level has been there. Brooks has called many wins a "team win" as the offense and defense comes by committee.

On Sunday it was the same story. Down 2-0 early on, the Cyclones scored 3 straight past the Dutchmen before Derek Elliot iced the contest with an empty netter.

Looking ahead Listowel has three games in 4 days this week with Brantford on Thursday, followed by Waterloo and Brampton.

Though Brampton and Brantford are below Listowel In the standings, Brooks says they won't be taken lightly.

"Every week is a big week, especially with so few games left." Brooks said, "We've to Brampton, (we) lost to Brantford our team has to work extremely hard against every team and it will be no different this weekend."

Brantford hosts Listowel Thursday night at 7:30 p.m. Waterloo comes into town Friday night at 7:30 p.m before an afternoon game Sunday in Brampton at 3:30 p.m.
