OHL will continue with games despite no fans

The Ontario Hockey League will continue their season, despite not being allowed fans following the latest government restrictions.

The league issued a statement today via Twitter, stating they have "re-affirmed our commitment to continue the 2021-22 season." The league held a board of governors meeting as well as a roundtable with all the GMs over the last few days to gauge the interest in continuing the season after Doug Ford's government announced on Monday that sports and recreation facilities will close until at least January 27th. However, the government allowed professional and "elite amateur" leagues to continue playing if they so choose. The OHL was designated an elite amateur league.

Additionally, the OHL stated they are in conversation with the Ontario government and public health officials on next steps. The league lost the entirety of the 2020-21 season due to the pandemic.
