Hookey keeps Attack playoff hopes alive with late winner against Guelph

The Owen Sound Attack did what they needed during their last regular season game of the season.

They hosted the Guelph Storm on Saturday and won 4-2, keeping their playoff hopes alive.

Cole Zurawski opened the scoring for the Attack nearly nine minutes into the first period. His 16th goal was assisted by Masen Wray and James Petrovski.

Guelph was able to tie the game before the intermission thanks to Max Namestnikov.

Neither team scored in the second period with the Attack outshooting Guelp 13-7.

Wray gave the Attack their second lead in the third period with his 10th goal. Harry Nansi and Pierce Mbuyi with the assists.

Just like in the first period, Guelph was able to find an equalizer. Jett Luchanko scored with just over five minutes left.

However, Landen Hookey played hero for the Attack by scoring his 34th goal of the season a couple of minutes later. The assists by Petrovski and Braedyn Rogers.

Bruce McDonald added an empty netter for his 10th of the year. Antonio Tersigni with the only assist on the play.

The Attack will be glued to the TV on Sunday watching the Sarnia Sting and Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds match. If Sarnia wins, they'll play a tiebreaker game against the Attack, while if Sault Ste. Marie wins then the Attack make the playoffs.

Whoever gets the final playoff spot in the Western Conference will take on the London Knights in the first round.
