Sarnia police are investigating an alleged assault at St. Patrick's High School after a student was sent to hospital Friday.
Police and Lambton EMS responded to an isolated incident that resulted in the school being placed on lockdown.
Cst. Nelson Amaral said a serious assault is alleged to have happened near one of the bathrooms.
The lockdown was in place for just under an hour, ending at around 11:30 a.m.
Police say the incident has concluded, and there's no ongoing public safety concern.
St. Clair Catholic District School Board Education Director Deb Crawford released a statement confirming an incident had occurred:
“There was an incident at St. Patrick’s Catholic High School this morning involving a student injury. The student was transported to hospital by ambulance and police were called. All students and staff are safe inside the building. The school has followed the Board’s Police Protocols. For a brief period, the school was in Lock Down and then Hold & Secure. Both have since been lifted and students and staff are attending regular classes. The Board is providing counselling support for staff and students and will continue to monitor the situation and provide support as needed. I want to thank the staff and students of St. Patrick’s Catholic High School for their quick and appropriate response to this situation.”
