Human remains found in Sarnia yet to be identified

Human remains recently found in the area of Highway 40 and Lasalle Line have been sent to a facility in Toronto for an autopsy as the investigation continues.

The Sarnia Police Service said the remains were sent to the Centre of Forensic Science to determine a cause of death and identity.

Few details have been released but police said more updates will be provided after the remains are identified and a next-of-kin is notified.

Sarnia police initially shared details of the investigation on January 18, after an increased police presence was reported in the area shortly after 3 p.m. on January 17.

As of Monday, officers remain in the area conducting a ground search, "looking for evidence to support the investigation."
