The Inn of the Good Shepherd's Cause for Paws pet food drive is back for another year.
The organization has once again teamed-up with Sarnia police and Sarnia fire to collect dog and cat food donations during the month of March.
Inn Operations Manager Adelle Richards said they're hoping this campaign is even more successful than last year's inaugural food drive.
"As we know, folks own pets -- dogs, cats -- and we need pet food at the Inn of the Good Shepherd," she said. "If you bring in a 10-pound bag of pet food, let's say dog kibble, we package that up, we don't hand out a 10-pound bag -- it's proportioned out into, let's say, coffee cans or yogurt tins."
Richards said donations can be dropped off at the Sarnia fire hall at 240 East St. N or at Sarnia Police Headquarters at 555 Christina St. N.
Richards said of the over 1,800 individuals who use the Inn's food bank monthly, a good number of them own pets.
"People come in and ask for litter, they may be struggling with canned food, kibble, litter, all good things to donate," she said. "We do understand that maybe a pet passes and you've just opened up a new bag of pet food -- maybe bring that over to the Inn of John Street, we will accept it."
