Beer Stores raise funds for hospitals, food banks in region

Beer Store customers in Sarnia, Chatham-Kent and Windsor-Essex helped raise a total of $2.3 million in hospital and food bank donations across the province.

Beginning March 17, the Beer Store announced that consumers returning empties for recycling could choose to donate their proceeds from 10 cents to 20 cents per container.

The Windsor, Chatham-Kent and Sarnia regions raised over $56,000 for healthcare centres and food banks in the area.

Beer Store President Ted Moroz thanked customers for their incredible generosity.

"To donate their returns in such large numbers clearly demonstrates how much they want to show their support for people working at local Health Centres and Foodbanks,” Moroz said in a news release.
