Mobile hazardous waste depot coming to Lambton Shores

Those with household hazardous waste lying around can safely dispose of it this weekend.

Lambton County's Public Works Department and Clean Harbors Canada Inc. will host a mobile collection event in Lambton Shores on Saturday, October 5.

Items that will be accepted, at no cost, include batteries, pesticides, pool chemicals, gasoline, drain cleaners, rat poison, ammonia, paints, oven cleaners, cleaning fluids, bleach, BBQ starter, pharmaceuticals, aerosols, oils, solvents, propane cylinders, sharps, and fluorescent lightbulbs.

There are a few things that won't be accepted.

They include PCBs, commercial, industrial, agricultural, or radioactive wastes, tires, explosives (flares and ammunition), electronics, asbestos and any containers weighing more than 25kg.

For safety reasons, we're asked to separate lithium batteries from all other battery types prior to drop-off.

The depot is open from 9:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the County's Public Works Depot at 6958 Townsend Line, east of Forest.
